Ekya Foundation, derived from the Sanskrit word "Ekya" meaning oneness and unity, is a youth-led organization that believes in the transformative power of giving. Established amidst the challenging times of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2021, Ekya Foundation has emerged as a beacon of hope, dedicated to making a meaningful impact on people's lives. Registered under the Trust Act of India, Ekya Foundation operates in multiple cities across the country, striving to bring positive change through various initiatives.
Mission and Vision
At Ekya Foundation, the mission is clear: giving is not just about making a donation; it is about making a difference. The foundation envisions a society where every individual has access to basic necessities and opportunities for growth. With a focus on youth empowerment and community development, Ekya aims to create a unified and compassionate world, where everyone can thrive.
Milestones Achieved in the Two Years
Since its inception, Ekya Foundation has achieved significant milestones, showcasing the dedication and commitment of its members towards creating a positive impact. Here are some of the notable achievements:
Hunger Relief: Ekya Foundation has been at the forefront of aiding the fight against hunger. Through their initiatives, they have provided healthy and nourishing meals to those in need. Their first food drive in June 2021, held in Kolkata, fed over 200 people. They later expanded their reach to Mumbai and Saharanpur, providing "Ghar ka Khana" (home-cooked food) to those in need. They have successfully delivered over 1000 meals in a single day.
Collaboration and Community Engagement: Ekya Foundation has collaborated with various organizations and NGOs to amplify their impact. They joined forces with ISHWARA SANKALPA, a WHO-recognized NGO, to distribute hampers in a shelter home for women suffering from psycho-social difficulties. They also collaborated with Maranatha Orphanage and Colors of Change to bring joy to children on special occasions like Christmas.
Educational Support and Empowerment: Recognizing the importance of education, Ekya Foundation visited a blind school in Saharanpur, providing students with braille slates and boards, walking sticks, and food. They have also extended support to over 45 children in need, offering educational assistance and empowering them for a better future.
Expansion and Outreach: Ekya Foundation expanded its presence to cities like Delhi, Chandigarh, and Assam, setting up additional centres to reach more people. They have distributed food outside AIIMS Delhi, donated clothes, and even fed cows in Chandigarh. This expansion has allowed them to touch the lives of more individuals in need across various regions.
With their continuous efforts and expanding network, Ekya Foundation has made a substantial impact on society. They have touched lives of 10,28,700 people, paid hospital fees for more than 16 individuals, and provided 285 facilities for blind children. The foundation has received over 750,000 donations and actively involved 360+ youth in their initiatives. With 145+ festival hampers provided for the underprivileged, Ekya Foundation has shown its commitment to inclusivity and celebrating the diversity of communities. Ekya Foundation's unwavering commitment to making a difference in people's lives is truly commendable. Through their efforts in hunger relief, education, and community engagement, they have touched the lives of thousands, spreading joy, and bringing hope. As they mark their second-year anniversary, Ekya Foundation stands as a shining example of how a youth-led organization can create a positive impact and inspire others to contribute to the betterment of society.
