Unseen Struggles Under a Scorching Sky

They are victimised in this scorching heat

hunger gnaws and pricks on their nerves

a never ending relentless ache, relentless

flaws bodies exhausted by this ruthless sun

parched throats whispering, ‘when will this be done?’

A plight unfolds, unseen by passer-by

a quandary one might even say

underneath the first sky

invisible shadows cast those in need

those depriving of their necessities

a symphony of silence, desperate pleas

sweating writhing bodies

skin withered, hair falling out

with nose dripping blood

tongues wary and dry

salivating in this mayhem

Wandering, searching for a saving grace

they ablaze in the depth of hunger’s embrace

bellies empty, spirits worn

enduring the heat

resilience reborn

Knowing the torment, the pangs of despair

as hunger weaves its torment, unfair

Every step becomes a battle fought

Through blistering sands their dreams are sought
